Samuel F.B. Morse's first telegraphic message.

Today's Western Union, well, isn't exactly running at 99.98% uptime. Sign was in Genuardi's Supermarket, Marlton, NJ.

Nice hit for our major client, Wal-Mart...

We had a nice photo hit today in the Wall Street Journal. Our photo of Dell computers stacked for sale at the newly opened Wal-Mart Store #3337 in Rio Grande, NJ, was used to illustrate a story on page D1 of the Journal

One last GG-1 photo for the archives. This one, taken in October 1981, shows Judy and Steve in the cab of GG-1 #4935 in PRR livery on the day of the last run for NJ Transit, the day the engine's main power transformer blew out on the return trip from Newark to Matawan, and the excursion train had to be towed back to Newark from Rahway. Sad end to a magnificent motor! Photo credit for this shot goes to Don Campbell, my much beloved first boss on the railroad and mentor.

Archive Photos: GG-1 locomotive ride, October 1980

David Kwechansky of Toronto, a market research consultant, rode New Jersey Transit's GG-1 #4884 on October 27, 1980 after picking up a painting he had commissioned from famed Pennsylvania Railroad artist Grif Teller, that showed the GG-1 crossing paths with a 4-8-8-4 configuration steam locomotive. Kwechansky wrote about the experience in Trains Magazine. More GG-1 photos at http://www.lubetkin.net/Albums/Kwechansky Posted by Picasa
